Acute Myeloid Leukemia

AML or Acute Myeloid Leukemia is a kind of cancer which causes the bone marrow to make abnormal myeloblasts (a kind of white blood cells), platelets (red blood cells) which interferes with the normal blood cells. AML also has different subtypes.

Bone Cancer

It is form of rare cancer which occurs in the bone cells. Primary bone cancer is different from secondary bone cancer which spreads to the bone from other parts of the body. Primary bone cancer usually occurs in long bones of legs and arms.

Medical Oncology

Medical Oncology is one of the ways of treating cancer which uses Immunotherapy, Chemotherapy, Targeted Therapy and Hormonal Therapy. It usually is used in conjunction with Radiation Oncology and Surgical Oncology.

Targeted Therapy

In this, drugs are used to specifically target proteins or cells which are found in cancer cells and other cells associated to the growth of cancer.

Hormone Therapy

Hormone Therapy stops hormones from developing or rather, it stops hormones from contributing to the growth and division of cancer cells.

Chemotherapy

In therapy, certain drugs are used to destroy cancerous cells. It works by slowing or stopping cancer cells’ growth. It can harm healthy cells in the process, such as those in the intestines, mouth or hair cells, which might cause damage. Neoadjuvant Chemotherapy is delivered before radiotherapy/surgery and Adjuvant Chemotherapy is delivered after radiotherapy/surgery.

Immunotherapy

It’s a breakthrough cancer treatment which activates the process of immune cells to combat cancer cells. It’s a personalized treatment and varies from patient to patient. Drug therapy, Cancer vaccines and Dendritic cell therapy are used as part of Immunotherapy.
